Mitt Romney's Deception: First edition (2011)

MITT ROMNEY'S DECEPTION:
His Stealth Promotion of "Gay Rights" and
"Gay Marriage" in Massachusetts
(2011 edition)

by Amy L. Contrada

Mitt Romney's Deception reveals the former Massachusetts Governor's promotion of "gay rights," his unconstitutional implementation of "gay marriage," and his support for sexual-radical programs in the Massachusetts schools. The outrages Romney failed to halt set horrible precedents for radical leftist victories nationwide. Contrary to his claim that he defended marriage, the Constitution, traditional values, and religious freedom, he actually undermined them.

Contrada's research will prove invaluable in assessing Mitt Romney as a Presidential candidate. Focusing on the issue of "gay rights," Contrada documents his largely untold history as Governor. During those years (2003-2006), Romney:
* worked closely with homosexual activists and pro-gay rights advisors
* implemented "gay marriage," violating the Massachusetts Constitution
* pushed a constitutional amendment strategy doomed to failure, and ignored the call to remove the "gay marriage" judges
* funded and promoted GLBT indoctrination in the public schools through his Governor's Commission on Gay and Lesbian Youth, and his Department of Education "Safe Schools" programs
* undermined religious freedom, failing to defend Catholic Charities in the "homosexual adoptions" fiasco
* continued or implemented radical GLBT programs in his executive departments

This superbly documented history has over 900 detailed footnotes. It is a unique resource by an activist on the front lines of the culture war during Mitt Romney's term as Governor.

Mitt Romney's Deception: His Stealth Promotion of ‘Gay Rights’ and ‘Gay Marriage’ in Massachusetts (NEW BOOK)

[7-20-2011 NOTE: The E-book edition is no longer available.]

Just Published: A Hard-Hitting Book on Mitt Romney’s Pro-Homosexual Record while Governor of Massachusetts

Massachusetts pro-family activist Amy Contrada has just released her definitive study of Mitt Romney’s role in implementing ‘gay marriage,’ promoting GLBT ‘rights,’ and supporting the sexual-radical agenda in the Massachusetts schools while Governor. The book is now available at Amazon.

Mitt Romney’s Deception: His Stealth Promotion of ‘Gay Rights’ and ‘Gay Marriage’ in Massachusetts
By Amy L. Contrada
$9.99 at Amazon Kindle (2nd Kindle Edition, March 2011)

Contrada details how Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney supported the homosexual and transgender agenda on same-sex ‘marriage,’ sexual-radical indoctrination in the schools, and societal transformation – while posing as a defender of the Constitution and traditional family values.

Mitt Romney is no conservative, despite his attempts to appeal to that element in the Republican Party. He is an ‘establishment fixer’ – a preserver of the status quo at best, or a promoter of social liberal causes and institutions at worst. In Massachusetts, the establishment – protected and advanced by Romney – was uniquely committed to the radical homosexual and transgender agenda.

Conservatives will find Contrada’s research invaluable in evaluating Romney as a Presidential candidate. Even those uninterested in Romney will find this a fascinating record of sexual-radical activism, whether for same-sex ‘marriage’ or school programs promoting GLBT ‘rights.’ The book is a rare combination of political history and analysis, enlivened by uncompromising commentary from a front-line activist.

Focusing on the issue of ‘gay rights,’ Contrada documents Romney’s largely untold history as Governor of Massachusetts:

• How Romney implemented same-sex ‘marriage’ while ignoring the Massachusetts Constitution.

• How Romney followed a constitutional amendment strategy doomed to failure, while ignoring the possibility of removing the judges who ruled for same-sex ‘marriage.’

• How Romney undermined the principle of religious freedom and failed to defend Catholic Charities in the ‘homosexual adoptions’ fiasco.

• How Romney implemented radical homosexual and transgender programs in his Department of Social Services and Department of Public Health.

• How Romney funded and promoted homosexual and transgender indoctrination in the public schools through his Governor’s Commission on Gay and Lesbian Youth, and his Department of Education ‘Safe Schools’ programs.

• How Romney worked directly with radical homosexual activists to promote their self-defined ‘rights.’

• And much more.

The book is superbly documented with over 900 detailed footnotes directly linked to sources. It includes a compendium of Romney’s public statements related to ‘gay rights’; contemporary commentary; a detailed timeline covering Romney’s implementation of same-sex marriage; extensive detail on sexual-radical indoctrination in the Massachusetts schools; and many previously unpublished photographs. It is a unique resource by an activist on the front lines of the culture war during Romney’s term as Governor.

Contrada holds a B.A. summa cum laude (Tufts University), an M.A.T. (Brown University), and a Diploma in Violin Making. She is a 40-year resident of Massachusetts. Contrada has been a reporter, researcher, writer, and office staffer for the pro-family organization MassResistance (Waltham, MA) since 2004.

Romney's Pro-"Gay Rights" Legal Counsel Endorsed by Radical GLBT Lobby

The GLBT lobby – including its transgender members – have just unanimously endorsed former Gov. Mitt Romney’s Chief Legal Counsel for State Representative. That would be Daniel Winslow, Esq.

We always knew that Romney’s legal staff was really working for “gay rights” while pretending to just enforce the “law” (the unconstitutional Goodridge marriage Court ruling). It was Winslow who himself made law (with the Governor’s assent), changing the marriage licenses in May 2004 – without the required Legislative authorization – to read “Party A & Party B” instead of “Bride & Groom”. Unbelievable.

 logo

For those new to MassResistance, we’ve pointed out since 2004 that same-sex marriage is still not legal in Massachusetts. The marriage statute still reads “man/woman”, and the GLBT lobby can’t get their bill allowing marriage “regardless of gender” to a vote (as confirmed by Winslow). The Court told the Legislature (not Winslow and Romney) to make that change, but they never have!

Winslow’s website makes no mention of social issues. (He’s right in line with the state Republican establishment on that!) He does show off his old bike in a sappy nod to the Scott Brown truck.

That’s all we need: another RINO in the State House! Our old friend, Tom Lang (another RINO) at KnowThyNeighbor.org had a long conversation with Winslow at the Mass. Gay & Lesbian (& Tranny) Political Caucus meeting recently:

The Massachusetts Gay and Lesbian Political Caucus (MGLPC), the Leading LGBT Lobby Organization and Key Architect for the Strategy Securing Marriage Equality, Has Endorsed Republican Daniel Winslow (9th Norfolk) And Former Mitt Romney's Chief Legal Counsel Over Democrat Challenger Stanley Nacewicz For the Massachusetts House of Representatives

Led by Co-Chair Arline Isaacson, the MGLPC voted unanimously in last week's annual meeting to endorse the Republican, Daniel Winslow over his Democratic challenger, Stan Nacewicz for the Massachusetts House Seat representing the 9th Norfolk District in Fall 2010. This District seat was formerly held by Richard Ross (R) [who marched in Boston Pride this year] who vacated it when he succesfully ran for Scott Brown's (R) Massachusetts Senate Seat after Brown's historic victory took him to Washington, DC.

Arline Isaacson touted Republican Dan Winslow for his support of The Goodridge Decision, his zero tolerance of hate crimes and told the Caucus gathering, "Winslow is what we need," in terms of a Republican that understands LGBT issues.  Isaacson also gave a bit of insight into Winslow's history as the Romney attorney that changed our state's marriage license wording from "Bride and Groom" to "Party A and Party B"

But what was interesting was that Isaacson provided the Caucus with Winslow's answers to her standard nine topic questionnaire on civil rights issues that all candidates are given.  Dan Winslow answered "Yes" to all subjects ranging from Gay and Lesbian Civil Rights to HIV Funding to Opposition of DOMA to Choice except one...the Transgender Civil Rights and Hate Crimes Bill. …

So what does KnowThyNeighbor [Tom Lang] think about this?  I interviewed Dan Winslow extensively after the Caucus endorsement meeting.  On the subject of Marriage Equality post Goodridge, Winslow says that Massachusetts needs legal updates.  Winslow told me that during the Romney days many within the administration insisted that MA marriage licenses continue to read "Bride and Groom" as, according to Winslow, some wanted same gender couples to "have to decide which would be the bride and which would be the groom" or in other words force same-sex couples to humiliate themselves.  Winslow was the one who pushed the "Party A/Party B" nomenclature as one of respect and dignity for same sex couples and a general equality for all parties entering into marriage.  Winslow wanted to make me understand that he has 3 important legal changes to state laws post Goodridge that to him are of the utmost urgency.  One, changes to current birth certificates which would recognize same sex couples.  Two, the inclusion of "civil unions" and "domestic partnerships" as impediments to MA marriages (currently, two people of the same gender could be married to one another in MA while being part of a dom partnership in Washington State to another person).  And Three, that MA courts must retain the jurisdiction of divorce when it comes to our same-sex marriages. … [emphasis in original]

(Read the complete post here.)

Winslow is even moving towards supporting the Transgender Rights bill. Now that’s what we call extreme. (We thought the Republican Party didn’t want to associate with “extremists”.)

Why do these guys have an R next to their name? They’re really fifth columnists, working to undermine traditional values from within the Republican Party.

What more is needed than this to prove that Mitt Romney was actively working for “gay rights” while Governor? He surely understood his Chief Counsel’s bias, and most likely, shared it. Lots more on that soon.

Meanwhile, Romney has the gall to continue to present himself to the gullible conservatives attending Family Research Council’s “Values Voters” conference in D.C. this weekend. “Protect Marriage” and “Champion Life”!!! Yeah, right.

++++++++++

P.S. Dan Winslow commented on Tom Lang's post on 9/17:

Dan Winslow said...
Many thanks Tom. Just to clarify, the "bride/groom" discussion refers to others outside the administration who were lobbying me against changing the form. I was not referring to conversations within the administration. This endorsement means a lot to me personally and I am proud to have the support of Democrats as well as Independents and Republicans on these issues as well. We need to work together to move forward.

Pediatricians Warning Schools: Do Not Promote Being 'Gay'

We have lived the nightmare of GLBT activists meddling in the life of our family, and cruelly targeting a confused young child. Luckily, our personal stories have turned out well.
But how many young people are drawn into unhappy lives -- even the dangerous sadomasochist underworld -- by the twisted preaching of GLSEN, PFLAG, and their "Safe Schools" agents?
The American College of Pediatricians is right on target with their new report, "Facts about Youth." From WorldNetDaily:
'It is not the school's role to 'affirm' perceived personal sexual orientation'
A professional organization for pediatricians has dispatched letters to thousands of school superintendents across the United States with a warning that promoting – or "affirming" – the homosexual lifestyle to young children can be damaging them.
The letter was sent just days ago by the American College of Pediatricians, a nonprofit organization funded by members and donors, to school superintendents that tells them plainly, "It is not the school's role to diagnose and attempt to treat any student's medical condition, and certainly not a school's role to 'affirm' a student's perceived personal sexual orientation."
Further, schools can create a "life of unnecessary pain and suffering" for a child when they reinforce a behavior chosen out of a child's "confusion." ... [Read more.]

Kevin Jennings' "Safe Schools" Ploy

Linda Harvey of Mission America was the first to expose the X-rated content in Kevin Jennings' GLSEN-recommended readings back in 2002. See Harvey's
In this video, she explains Jennings' revolutionary ploy to bring homosexual indoctrination into our schools:

Safe Schools? Or 'Gay' Tactics of Revolution?
(posted December 14, 2009)
What are 'safe school' programs? Often they are a cover for the 'gay' agenda. Linda Harvey of Mission America discusses the damage homosexual activism is doing in American schools. By using tactics of revolution, people like Kevin Jennings and others are pressuring children to believe homosexuality is acceptable and look out, parents, if you object.

Kevin Jennings' Own Lesson Plan on Harry Hay: Doing It in the Bushes as "Civil Right"

I know, I know... I've just posted so much original info on Kevin Jennings it's hard for you all to keep up! So... I wanted you to look again at KJ's very own high school LESSON PLAN presenting anonymous anal sex in the bushes as a "civil right" to fight for... See my October 19 post:

Kevin Jennings, Harry Hay, and Pornography

excerpt:

... So when we examine Jennings’ gay and lesbian history teaching aids for high school and college classes [Becoming VisibleOne Teacher in Ten, and Telling Tales Out of School], we shouldn’t be surprised that he focuses those young minds (as early as 13 years old!) on Harry Hay’s campaign against “police brutality” and “oppression” of homosexuals in “entrapments.” (See Becoming Visible, Chapter 11, “Harry Hay and the Beginnings of the Homophile Movement.”).  A 1952 California “entrapment” case (where coincidentally the accused was named Jennings) became a focus for the new gay activist movement, and is held out to children (along with the Stonewall riots) as a heroic moment in American history. Having anonymous sodomy in restrooms is a “right” to be fought for, according to Hay – and Jennings -- and any attempt by society to enforce traditional norms is called “oppression”....

In his introduction to the unit on Hay, Jennings generates sympathy with the young readers, excusing Hay’s “idealist” membership in the Communist Party as “driven by a desire to better things for disadvantaged Americans.” Gays were victims, and Hay’s genius was to see an opportunity for a political movement fighting for his “oppressed minority”. “Growing oppression often creates growing resistance,” wrote Jennings.
Jennings’ student discussion topics on Hay include the police “entrapment” of a gay man involved in "cruising" for sex -- gay men engaging in anonymous sodomy in public bathrooms or public parks.  Students are told that such arrests amount to “financial and emotional lynching” of gays. Imagine what this topic would actually mean in a classroom discussion with children as young as 13.

When Jennings taught in Concord Academy (just prior to his editing this book), “no stories were forbidden.” His organization GLSEN held Boston conferences where children discussed fisting and tribadism (“Fistgate” in 2000) and handed out the pornographic Little Black Book (2005) to minor children. His Seattle GLSEN chapter linked children directly with pornography on their web site. So Jennings' pattern of leading children to age-inappropriate, hard-core sexual subject matter is clear.

What were Jennings’ suggested discussions for high school students in his chapter on Harry Hay? Here are the terms they needed to know, and some of the suggested topics (pp. 178-180):
·       Harry Hay
·       Daughters of Bilitis
·       Mattachine Society
·       Kinsey Report
·       Police entrapment
·       1. Recreate the scene in the apartment the night Harry Hay first gets the idea for a gay-rights organization. This can be done by: writing a “sales pitch” that Hay delivers to prospective members; role-playing the parts of Hay and the partygoers; or writing diary entries from the point of view of Hay and others, as if you have just gotten home from the party.
·       5. Hay’s most important contribution in the eyes of many was his notion that gays were a “cultural minority.” What does this mean? Why would it be important? (You may want to look at the life of Ulrichs in Chapter 7 for a comparison.)
·       9. The key argument Hay came up with in the groundbreaking [Dale] Jennings [entrapment] case was that Jennings had been homosexual but not “lewd or dissolute.” What made this a dramatic new argument at the time?
·       12. Every minority group has debated the “assimilation or resistance” question. Put yourself in the late 1950s and imagine you are a member of Mattachine or DOB [Daughters of Bilitis]. Justify your group’s political strategies. Others can represent a more “resistance” point of view. [Act Up for example?] After a debate, vote on which argument would be more convincing, given the conditions in the United States for gays of that period.

Note the technique of drawing the student -- whether “gay” or straight -- into a gay or lesbian identity in these exercises. And clearly, students are forced to engage in vivid thinking and discussion about gay sex practices. What, after all, was the accused doing when the policeman arrested him? Further, extremist political activism is held up as worthy of emulation, and students are directed to think along those lines.

Jennings never really answers his own question (in his Introduction to Becoming Visible), “Why teach gay history?” He does say, “it is intellectually dishonest not to do so” (whatever that means), and it will “help our students create a better society.” He equates gay history with African-American history and women’s history, totally ignoring the fact that homosexuality is not an innate characteristic (as are race and sex), and that the subject deals with the morally sensitive issue of sexual behavior.

Perhaps the honest answer to his question was that Jennings was “filled with rage.” From his introduction:

“I thought back over my twelve years in North Carolina public schools and my four years at Harvard University, sixteen years when I never once learned anything in a classroom about gay people or gay history, and I was filled with rage. Denying me that history had nearly cost me my life, for gay invisibility had helped create the feelings of isolation that had made me want to end it all.”

Jennings refers to himself as an “historian” (in his introduction). It appears he’s more of a propagandisfor a sorry cause: the moral perversion of youth, and the spreading of a myth that our “heterosexist” culture is to blame for all the psychological, emotional and physical sufferings of gays and lesbians.

The Fistgate Buck Stops with Kevin Jennings

Fistgate instructor Margot Abels had been with the Massachusetts DOE “Safe Schools” program for seven years by the time she ran the scandalous workshop documented at the GLSEN-Boston conference in 2000. That takes her back to 1993, the year the “safe schools” program began in the DOE. She had run “at least five” workshops similar to Fistgate prior to 2000, possibly going back to 1995 or even before (if she had done one yearly at the GLSEN conference). The Boston Globe reported:
"This is absolutely sanctioned by the department," Margot E. Abels told a reporter as 125 to 150 people* marched nearby in front of department headquarters to protest her firing. [*from the SEIU – see note below.] "It's not like the commissioner clears every word we say, but because we do our work based on research performed by the department, it's understood what we're going in there to do," said Abels, who had been the department's HIV/AIDS coordinator for seven years. "It's standard. There's nothing we did that was a secret. The department has always given us its full support - until now."
Abels, speaking publicly for the first time since being fired May 19 by Education Commissioner David P. Driscoll, said she has led at least five other workshops that were extremely similar to Teach Out 2000, which took place at Tufts University on March 25 - all without protest from her superiors. … (“Protest over a firing,” Raphael Lewis, June 2, 2000; emphasis added.)
It was in 1992 that Kevin Jennings joined radical David LaFontaine at the Governor’s Commission on Gay and Lesbian Youth, to “run its education committee” – which set up the “safe schools” programs in the Department of Education. From Jennings’ memoir, Mama’s Boy Preacher’s Son (p. 196):
… in the spring of 1992, [Governor Bill] Weld just decided to appoint one [a Commission on Gay and Lesbian Youth] under his own auspices [via Executive Order], and to call it the Governor’s Commission on Gay and Lesbian Youth. David [LaFontaine] was asked to chair it. Having heard about GLSTN [now GLSEN], he was calling me to ask me to run its education committee. It became quickly apparent that many commissioners had little or no knowledge of youth, and that the ones who did came mainly from social services and knew little about schools. Basically, I was being handed the school portfolio and asked what the governor should recommend.
Isn’t it safe to assume that the head of the education committee worked directly with his HIV/AIDS “sexuality educator,” Margot Abels, as they designed the queer sex curriculum? Are we to believe that Jennings’ ideas on content and methods would be less radical than the DOE employees’? When Abels said “it’s understood” what she did in her workshops, are we to believe that her superiors at the DOE understood it, but the mastermind of their “Safe Schools” program, Kevin Jennings, did not?
According to Jennings’ “partner”, while he was a teacher at Concord Academy, Jennings was very close to his students. They came to “worship him.” They called him “Kevin”. “He disrespected the entire, like, Mr. Jennings thing that we all had to grow up with. … No stories were ever forbidden when he was there.” That says something about Jennings’ teaching “methods” – doesn’t it?
LaFontaine, Jennings, Abels. Hardly a “grand conspiracy theory.” What we’re talking about is a small group of hugely dedicated radical activists with a lot of time on their hands to make mischief, who worked very closely together to launch the Massachusetts homosexual youth indoctrination and sexualization program.
Jennings continued to be closely connected with the Boston scene even after he moved to New York to start up a national GLSEN office. The GLSEN-Boston chapter was its “mothership”. He was keynote speaker at the Fistgate conference in 2000. Here is Jennings with Wallace Bachman (see Bachman's photo in conference program, p. 2), then Executive Director of GLSEN-Boston, at the Fistgate event:

[Photo: Massachusetts News, May 2000 Special Report, print ed.]
Margot Abels’ position was “HIV/AIDS educator” at the DOE. One of her supervisors–surely known to Jennings -- was Kim Westheimer, variously listed as “School Program Coordinator” and “Director” of the “Safe Schools” programs in the DOE (at least as early as Gov. Cellucci’s administration 1998-2000, and possibly earlier).
According to a letter by Westheimer (written in 2001), Bachman (GLSEN-Boston director) defended Abels and opposed her firing in 2000. Was Bachman out of step with Jennings, his superior as national GLSEN director? Jennings may have made a CYA statement immediately after the Fistgate story broke, but what about in the months thereafter?
There’s only one HIV/AIDS “queer sex ed” menu, Jennings designed it, and Bachman and Abels picked from it.
In her March 2001 letter (written just prior to that year’s GLSEN-Boston conference, “Fistgate II”), DOE “Safe Schools” program official Westheimer stated, “Our challenge as a community is to find ways for explicit education to take place as well.”
The Westheimer language which supports “explicit” sex education belies the DOE’s official distancing from what went on last year at Fistgate. Interestingly, at the particular workshop last year which was tape-recorded by the Parents’ Rights Coalition (PRC) [now MassResistance] and where kids were given explicit homosexual instruction on fisting and other sexual practices, 55 minutes passed before there was any mention of AIDS/HIV.
Westheimer wrote, “When PRC launched their campaign against GLBT youth last year, GLSEN Boston and Wallace Bachman [GLSEN-Boston Executive Director] in particular were among the few organizations or individuals who spoke up publicly against PRC, against DOE firing, and in support of providing AIDS/HIV and sexuality education for GLBT youth. Not many organizations spoke out in support of GLSEN or the DOE employees who conducted the workshop.” [emphasis added]
When Westheimer wrote about this “explicit education” in HIV/AIDS and queer sexuality workshops, what could she have in mind? How many specifically “queer” sex acts are there? Let’s see: anal intercourse, fisting, tribadism, “water sports”, “pig play,” rimming, sex in the bushes, sucking … Did we leave any out? So the repertoire the GLSEN-Abels workshops would bring up is pretty clear.
Remember: The workshop was billed as queer specific. Abels said the whole point was to answer any question the kids might ask about queer sex when uninhibited. This attitude and approach would not have changed since the time Jennings designed the curriculum in 1992-3. In Kevin’s classroom, “no stories were ever forbidden.”
A Boston Globe story maintains that Abels’ Fistgate workshop was sponsored by GLSEN, not the DOE:
The workshop at Tufts, designed to answer explicit sexual questions from teenagers too embarrassed to ask them in school, took place on a Saturday and was sponsored by the Gay and Lesbian Student Education Network, not the education department.
Abels, however, insists that the department knew of and supported her work. The department "shamefully caved in to orchestrated pressure and heinous threats against Ms. Abels at the expense of her constitutional rights," said Betsy Ehrenberg, Abels's attorney. (“Educator fired for sex discussion sues,” Scott S. Greenberger, November 28, 2000.)
But Jennings had a hand in both sponsoring groups, as national executive director of GLSEN, and as designer (and likely ongoing informal consultant, at least) of the DOE’s HIV/AIDS queer sexuality curriculum. Either way, the buck stops with Kevin Jennings.

The Abels workshops would not have changed significantly between 1993 and 2000 (and probably only varied depending on what questions were asked). Abels confirmed this. Queer sex is queer sex. So it’s silly to suggest that Jennings would not have known the general content, topics, and style of the her workshops.
And yes, Media Matters, there is a grand conspiracy. It’s called the homosexual agenda.

Counterfeit Marriage Rejected in Maine

Press Release from Matt Barber at Liberty Counsel:

Lynchburg, VA – Matt Barber, Director of Cultural Affairs with both Liberty Counsel and Liberty Alliance Action, issued the following statement on news that the voters of Maine have rejected counterfeit “same-sex marriage” by 53% - 47%:

“There’s good news and bad news here,” said Barber. “The good news is that even in one of the most liberal States in the Union, Maine, the people have once again rejected the ridiculous and oxymoronic notion of ‘same sex marriage.’ The momentum has again shifted – hopefully for good this time – in favor of protecting legitimate marriage. A counterfeit is a counterfeit. An orange is an orange no matter how much you want it to be a turnip. This isn’t about ‘marriage.’ It’s about hurting and broken people desperately seeking affirmation of an objectively deviant lifestyle. One that, even in their heart of hearts, they know to be a dead end. As for the militant ‘No on 1’ homosexual activists? I’m reminded of spoiled children dressing up and playing house, refusing to come in when mom calls for dinner.

“Here’s the bad news. The margin of victory could have been greater. Many behind the ‘Yes on 1’ campaign, rather than simply telling the truth, chose the Neville Chamberlain approach. They merely circled the wagons around the word ‘marriage,’ even suggesting that ‘domestic partnerships’ (‘gay marriages’ by another name) are acceptable. This makes no sense. If that’s a viable compromise, then why not simply allow 'gay' duos the word ‘marriage’? It’s an incongruity that demands an explanation. This is an historic battle for the minds and souls of our children – for our very culture. The mealy-mouthed approach must end. This is not just about ‘marriage.’ It has everything to do with forced affirmation of homosexuality – under penalty of law. Indeed everyone who fought hard to defend marriage in Maine is to be congratulated, but if it weren’t for a brave group of truth tellers – Paul Madore, Peter LaBarbera and Brian Camenker [of MassResistance] – who came to Maine in the final hour to hold a press conference and address the pink elephant in the room – homosexual deviancy and the radical ‘gay’ agenda – counterfeit marriage might have prevailed.”

Anti-Prop 8 Demo in Northampton Pushes "Transgender Rights"

Northampton, Massachusetts -- site of the nation's first major "Transgender Rights" march last June (documented by MassResistance, with video and photos) -- saw its own anti-Prop 8 demonstration on Saturday. But in Northampton, the cause includes "transgender rights" too -- not just "homosexual marriage".

What caught our eye on YouTube was this video of a "male-to-female" transsexual speaker, Lorelei Erisis.

You must watch this to see where our society is going. Men wanting to be women, changing their bodies and names (though rarely their faces or voices):
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=utKIpCqA5-o

"Ladies and gentlemen of all genders and persuasions, thank you for coming out..."

And if you don't want to go along with this insanity, you're a "hater" -- according to our President-elect too, not just the radicals assembling in Northampton.

Here is a photo of Lorelei speaking:
Remember that President-elect Obama has promised equal rights for the whole GLBT community -- "T" meaning transgenders or transsexuals. ("Gender identity" is the code language used for trannies.) Clearly, there is no bottom to this pit of confusion, sadness, and perversion into which these people have fallen. Yet our leftist political leaders will encourage even more troubled people to fall in. (See MassResistance, 3-8-08)

(The GLBT blog Reiter's Block has more photos of the Northampton radicals empowered by Obama's promises.)

Transgender Rights Bill H1722 Would Force Catholic Hospitals to Perform "Sex-Change" Surgeries

In California, a man who wants to be a woman is suing a Catholic hospital for refusing to allow his “breast augmentation” surgery there. (photo left)

Get ready: If the Mass. Transgender Rights Bill H1722 is passed, it would make it illegal for any hospital here, including a religious hospital, to refuse such “sex-change” surgeries. Freedom of religion would go out the window, since hospitals are named in Massachusetts law as “public accommodations.” (Ch. 272, Sec. 92A) Bill H1722 would ban discrimination on the basis of “gender identity or expression” in all public accommodations, including hospitals. There is no exemption in the bill for religiously-affiliated hospitals, businesses, or organizations.

In the past few years, we saw former Governor Romney allow homosexual demands to overtake our supposed freedom of religion: First, Catholic Charities’ ban on adoptions by same-sex couples was disallowed (though there was not even a law requiring this, just administrative regulations!). Then, Romney’s Dept. of Public Health forced Catholic hospitals to dispense morning-after pills. In both of those cases, even former Governor Dukakis said there were no laws requiring those policies. So, given that hospitals are specifically named in the existing public accommodations law, this new situation would be even more cut and dried.

Existing Mass. law, Section 98 of chapter 272 (here including the proposed new phrase, "gender identity or expression"), seems to imply that even speaking publicly against the non-discrimination law could result in fines &/or imprisonment:

“Whoever makes any distinction, discrimination or restriction on account of race, color, religious creed, national origin, sex, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, which shall not include persons whose sexual orientation involves minor children as the sex object, deafness, blindness or any physical or mental disability or ancestry relative to the admission of any person to, or his treatment in any place of public accommodation, resort or amusement, as defined in section ninety-twoA, or whoever aids or incites such distinction, discrimination or restriction shall be punished by a fine of not more than twenty-five hundred dollars or by imprisonment for not more than one year, or both, and shall be liable to any person aggrieved thereby for such damages …” [emphasis added]

From the Fox News story (1-18-08):
... Hastings, who already has had one major sex-change surgery, claims that Seton Medical Center in Daly City, Calif., would not allow her plastic surgeon to operate on a transgender person.
"I honestly believe that God has plans for me to have this surgery," Hastings told FOXNews.com.
"I felt simply less than equal," she said. "Here I am, a woman. I had the reassignment surgery, and not to allow me this right, I felt violated."...
The Catholic hospital does not allow transgender surgery, [the hospital's] statement says.
"Seton Medical Center, a Catholic hospital and a member of the Daughters of Charity Health System, provides services to all individuals. However, the hospital does not perform surgical procedures contrary to Catholic teaching; for example, abortion, direct euthanasia, transgender surgery or any of its related components."
Shannon Minter, legal director for the Center for Lesbian Rights and an expert on transgender rights, said California law protects Hastings.
"It's against California law, and it's wrong," Minter said. "They should be ashamed of themselves for turning away anybody because of their identity."
Minter said the Unruh Civil Rights Act protects Hastings against discrimination based on gender identity, adding that there is no exception for religious-affiliated businesses. [emphasis added]

AP Stylebook and Trans Madness

Have you wondered why all the big media stories on transgenders or transsexuals refer to men as "she" and women as "he"? The heavyweight GLBT activists took control of the AP Stylebook some years back. The AP Stylebook sets usage standards by reporters and editors throughout the country. Since the late 1990s, the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) and GenderPAC have met with the AP Stylebook editors -- and have had their way. The New York Times and Washington Post have also bent over.

Since 1997, pronoun confusion was enabled by the AP Stylebook in its usage guidelines for the term sex change. At first, physical changes (through surgery, etc.) were considered a requirement for such usage (a he referred to as she). Then from 2000 on -- as transgender activists wanted to downplay surgeries in favor of the individual’s self-identification as the opposite sex – the AP played along. By 2005, the word transgender first appeared in the AP Stylebook. And by 2006, the terms sex change and transsexual were essentially disabled and rolled into the new concept transgenderthereby including a much larger population for the biased media to use in its propaganda war on biological reality.

See GLAAD’s history of AP Stylebook compliance with their most radical demands:

The 2006 edition also relocates the sex changes entry under the more accurate and inclusive term transgender. The transsexuals entry, which used to direct readers to the entry for sex changes, now also points to transgender:
  • transgender Use the pronoun preferred by the individuals who have acquired the physical characteristics of the opposite sex or present themselves in a way that does not correspond with their sex at birth.
  • If that preference is not expressed, use the pronoun consistent with the way the individuals live publicly.

So now the individual gets to choose what “gender” he or she is, whether or not he or she has undergone physical alterations, and the media plays along. An 8-year-old boy in Colorado decides (with full parental and school administration support) to return to school dressed as a girl … and the biased media refer to the boy as she. Just following the AP Stylebook!

And the Massachusetts Legislature is asked to play this game, too, in the Transgender Rights Bill H1722.

Romney Tells "Gay" Republicans He Will Not Oppose "Gay" Rights

Would a true conservative candidate send a representative from his campaign to meet with homosexual activists in his party? The "big tent" idea is contrary to a conservative view of the Republican Party.

As of now, yours truly is a registered Republican. But we're getting sick of "big tenters." No, real Republicans do NOT like big government (as in Romney's state health insurance plan). No, we do NOT like raising taxes (disguised by Romney as fees). No, we do NOT like experiments on human embryos, or the state/taxpayer funding abortions. No, we do NOT believe in special rights for homosexuals.

From the Washington Blade, a homosexual newspaper:

Romney rep’s remarks disappoint audience (1-25-08)

Remarks made by a representative for Romney’s campaign during a forum hosted by the D.C. chapter of the Log Cabin Republicans Jan. 16 had at least one attendee feeling disappointed.
During the forum, representatives from the campaigns of four Republican presidential contenders expressed views on why the Log Cabin Republicans should endorse their candidate.
Michael Cleary made remarks on Romney’s behalf. During his presentation he did not mention gay issues, instead focusing on how Romney revived several failing companies during his business career.
David Lampo, vice president of Virginia Log Cabin Republicans and attendee at the forum, criticized Cleary for neglecting to address gay issues and asked him to state where Romney stood on them.
Cleary responded that he could not recall a time in recent years when Romney went “out of his way” to emphasize gay rights. Cleary added that, “I want to make the point that he won’t oppose them.”
Noting Romney’s endorsement for an amendment defining marriage in the U.S. Constitution, Cleary told attendees that they should not interpret his position as being “prejudicial towards gays.”

154 Mass. Companies Supporting Transgender Employees

Yesterday we posted the Human Rights Campaign's (HRC) list of perfect-scoring companies in Massachusetts, those that support every facet of their radical GLBT agenda in the corporate world. At a recent legislative briefing session at the State House, the Mass. Transgender Political Coalition (MTPC) issued a list of 154 Massachusetts employers with "non-discrimination policies covering gender identity." (Apparently, there are many companies that support this concept, while not on HRC's 100% list.)

If we believe the MTPC handout, it seems to demonstrate that there's not so much anti-transgender discrimination going on out there as they want us to believe. If this many companies openly jump on the bandwagon, what's the problem? Oh, yeah -- MTPC wants everyone to be forced to think the same way, and allow no leeway to employers on whether or not they believe in the natural reality of only two sexes, MALE and FEMALE.

This long list of 154 wacky companies does not yet appear on MTPC web site. But they do post this shorter version, slightly expanding the HRC list:

Mass. Corporations Supporting Transgender Madness

In order to earn a 100% rating on the Human Rights Campaign's "Corporate Equality Index 2008," a company needs to support the craziest recent inventions of the GLBT movement: "transgender" or "transsexual" rights and benefits. The company would have to allow employees to "transition" from one "gender" to another, including medical costs, sick leave, etc. -- on the company ticket. (Most companies' benefits include mental health coverage -- and this should take care of the problem. But sadly today, there are all too many mental health practitioners who buy into trans madness, and are only too happy to prescribe hormones and mutilating surgery for their confused patients.)

Read the HRC ratings criteria. Here are the HRC recommended sources for companies to use for "transitioning" employees.

Troubled employees are not changing their sex (that's biologically impossible). Just their "gender." We think... Then again, they do call it "sex reassignment surgery." (But what the troubled employee thinks is all that really matters.) If they want hormone injections, body mutilating surgeries, and cosmetic treatments (that can add up to $100K or more) that let them pretend they're the opposite sex (or is it gender?), any company willing to play along gets a 100% rating from HRC! Here's what the company will have to do: HRC Workplace Gender Transition Guidelines.

Here's the list of companies nationwide that agree to these guidelines. (See Appendix X.) And here are the companies and law firms in Massachusetts that have bought into this insanity. (If House Bill #1722 passes, every company and government entitity -- including public schools -- in Massachusetts will have to support this!)

Massachusetts Companies & Law Firms supporting transgender/transsexual benefits (2008):
Raytheon
State Street Corp.
Bain & Co.
Boston Consulting Group
McKinsey & Co.
Bright Horizons Family Solutions [day care!]
Harvard Pilgrim Health Care [health care!]

Boston Globe Pushing "Transgender Discrimination" Story

Yesterday's print edition of the Boston Globe NorthWest had a front-page story, "Transgender student alleges bias," which for some reason is not appearing in the online headlines. (It is available if you do a search, and appears with a different headline, "Student alleges bias over locker.") Has the Globe decided to back off on this story? Has the Globe received complaints about supposed objective reporting:

  • referring to a female as "he"
  • accepting the very absurd notion of "transgenderism"
  • detailing that this young woman has had her breasts removed, but "still has some female anatomy" ?

This is only the beginning of "transgender" craziness in this state. If men don't want to see women with mutilated bodies in their locker rooms, they'd better call their State Rep and Senator and tell them to oppose H1722, the radical "transgender rights" bill, which will force all locker rooms everywhere in the state to include members of the opposite sex who "think" they are "transgender".

From the Boston Globe NorthWest:

"Transgender student alleges bias" (1-27-08)
Ethan Santiago, a physical education major in his first semester at Northern Essex Community College, had been using the men's locker room for weeks when he decided he needed a spot to stash his gym bag. So, he applied for a locker.
He said a school administrator denied his request, citing safety reasons. Santiago, a transgendered student, still has some female anatomy.
The rejection spurred the 20-year-old to file an affirmative action grievance against the school in October, alleging that he was discriminated against because of his gender identity.
Santiago said he just wants to be treated like other male students on campus. Instead, he said, the college offered him the use of a locker room generally reserved for athletes from visiting schools, as well as use of a handicap-accessible bathroom near the NECC men's locker room. He said both options made him feel like a second-class citizen....

Santiago, of Lawrence, took the name Ethan about two years ago. He was born Elizabeth. That identity confused Santiago, who said that as a teen he didn't "feel straight" but knew he wasn't a lesbian. He figured he could be bisexual, but decided to do some research.
"I came across a general education website that had all the definitions of different ways that people are queer, and transgender was there and I was like, 'What! That makes so much sense.' It just clicked," said Santiago, who has since cut his hair and dresses in men's clothes and has had breast reduction surgery.
"It was exciting every step of the way to find out what I really liked," Santiago said. "I grew up female and I know that a lot of trans people try to put their old life behind them, but I fully embrace that I was born female and that I grew up female . . . and I think it's going to make me a much better guy."
Meanwhile, Santiago said, he'll continue his fight at Northern Essex. He's been in contact with the Massachusetts Transgender Political Coalition, a nonprofit that has offered to help guide his next steps.
Otherwise, "what am I going to do when people ask me, 'How come you're not coming to the locker room with us?' " asked Santiago. "I am living as male. I am using the men's locker room."

Boston "Gay" Community Seeing New Deadly Staph Infections

Boston is one of the cities seeing the spread of a dangerous new staph bacteria in the homosexual community. Reported in the San Francisco Chronicle on Monday:

S.F. gay community an epicenter for new strain of virulent staph (1-15-08):

SAN FRANCISCO -- A new variety of staph bacteria, highly resistant to antibiotics and possibly transmitted by sexual contact, is spreading among gay men in San Francisco, Boston, New York and Los Angeles, researchers reported Monday. The study released online by the journal Annals of Internal Medicine found the highest concentrations of infection by the drug-resistant bug in and around San Francisco's Castro district and among patients who visit health clinics that treat HIV infections in gay men in San Francisco and Boston....
"We are nowhere near the peak," Diep [head researcher at S.F. General Hospital] said. "The peak will occur when it spreads into the general population."
Diep said there is reason to believe that the more drug-resistant strain will make that leap because it is just a slight variant of USA300, which became one of the most common strains of MRSA in the United States only a few years after it was first detected.
The latest study focuses on the spread of the more drug-resistant strain in San Francisco and Boston, but reports of the bug are turning up in New York and Los Angeles....

[emphasis added]

For analysis, see Americans for Truth, Big City Homosexual Men Are Epicenter of New Virulent MRSA Staph Strain; More evidence that homosexuality is a public health hazard (1-15-08):

What a mystery … How could it be that so many infections are occurring in the “buttocks and genitalia” of San Francisco men (who have sex with other men)? …
Is this not an eerie reminder of the initial stories about AIDS — then called
GRID (Gay-Related Immunodeficiency Disease) – 25 years ago? It is unfathomable that after that plague, disease specialists and the media are now surprised at the correlation of new infections with homosexual behavior.
Wake up, medical and political establishment: homosexual behavior is unhealthy — no matter how many secular sermons you preach against “homophobia.” Due to liberal political correctness, which insists on treating aberrant — even deadly — behaviors and lifestyles as a “civil right,” we as a society don’t seem to have learned much from the AIDS pandemic. This latest news begs some serious questions:

- Why aren’t all schoolchildren being taught that there are special health risks associated with homosexual behavior and that they should “just say no” to homosexuality?...

And for more analysis, Concerned Women for America put out a press release yesterday:
Epidemic Feared — “Gays” May Spread Deadly Staph Infection to General Population (1-15-08)
... According to the study, at this point, homosexual men are 13 times more likely to contract the potentially deadly, drug-resistant strain of staph infection, but the fear is that, because the infection is spread via skin-to-skin contact, homosexual men may soon spread it to the general population.
Matt Barber, Policy Director for Cultural issues with Concerned Women for America (CWA), said, “The medical community has known for years that homosexual conduct, especially among males, creates a breeding ground for often deadly disease. In recent years we have seen a profound resurgence in cases of HIV/AIDS, syphilis, rectal gonorrhea and many other STDs among those who call themselves ‘gay.’
“The human body is quite callous in how it handles mistreatment and the perversion of its natural functions. When two men mimic the act of heterosexual intercourse with one another, they create an environment, a biological counterfeit, wherein disease can thrive. Unnatural behaviors beget natural consequences.
“In recent years our culture has adopted a laissez faire attitude toward sexual deviancy....

“Well, now the dangerous and possibly deadly consequence of what occurs in those bedrooms is spilling over into the general population. It’s not only frightening, it’s infuriating.
“Citizens, especially parents, need to stand up and say, ‘No More! We will no longer sit idly by while politically correct cultural elites endanger our children and larger communities through propagandist promotion of this demonstrably deadly lifestyle.’ "

[1-18-08 addendum] And Barber cites the study itself:
The study determined that the spread of MRSA, “among men who have sex with men is associated with high-risk behaviors, including use of methamphetamine and other illicit drugs, sex with multiple partners, participation in a group sex party, use of the internet for sexual contacts, skin-abrading sex, and history of sexually transmitted infections.” --- That’s a direct quote...
