"Gender expression" defined in photos

"Gender expression" has not been defined, but may soon become a "civil right" in Massachusetts.

The pending Body Mutilation ("Transgender Rights") Bill declares it unlawful to discriminate on the basis of "gender identity or expression" yet fails to define either "gender identity" or "gender expression" in any meaningful way. (Likewise, the phrase "sexual orientation" remains undefined in the law.)

The inclusion of "expression" is heavy with implications on how this bill will play out. Whereas "orientation" and "identity" are states of mind, "expression" connotes ACTION, and guarantees that perversions will be protected when played out in the public sphere.

Soon, scenes such as those below will be unstoppable in public places ("public accommodations"). They will be considered a "civil right" to "gender expression." And as we've pointed out, GLAD is readying its defense for public sex acts. (Thanks to GLAD, pervs can already can do it in restrooms or behind the bushes in the Fens without worry of arrest.)

We see no need to warn anyone of the upsetting nature of these photos, since we'll all be seeing similar things in public within a few years. [Photos by MassResistance, except as noted.]

"Satanic Trannies" Coming Soon to Massachusetts?

A new "direct action" lesbian/trans/assorted perv group has appeared on the scene, most recently invading a church in Lansing, Michigan. The group "Bash Back" calls themselves "Satanic Trannies" and they are clearly proud of the places reserved for them in hell. (Note the "666" under "Dykes of the Damned" above. Sign below reads "Satanic Trannies".) Their banner in Wikipedia says, "These faggots kill fascists." The group is gearing up all over the country, no doubt soon joining the fray in Massachusetts.

Photos: NBC25.
What does "Bash Back" hope to accomplish through their "radical queer convergences"? From their MySpace:
["Bash Back" is] an anti-assimilation, sex-positive, radical group of queers, transfolk, and feminists dedicated to eradicating heteronormativity, subverting binary gender norms, capitalism, and attacking intersecting oppressions including but not limited to white supremacy, patriarchy, classism, ableism, sizeism, and poverty inside and outside of the movement....
We are fierce as fuck radical queers, transfolk, and feminists who are not concerned with gaining access to oppressive, state-run institutions such as marriage, the military, or obtaining upward economic mobility. We want liberation, nothing less....
[Bash Back welcomes all] queermos, trans people, dykes, fags, bi people, feminists, womyn, people of color, lesbians, gays, butches, femmes, bdsm perverts, sex workers, bearded ladies, ladyboys, bois, grrls, radicals, people with aids, allies, bears, cubs, drag performers, tops, bottoms, burlesque all stars, transvestites, genderqueers, genderfuckers, sluts, poly people, radical cheerleaders, tranarchists, john waters and anyone in between who want to smash the state.

BDSM on the Rise; Does the State Have an Interest?

Two recent stories in the New York Post remind us once again how quickly sexual perversions can devolve into acutely dangerous situations…. And make us ask once again why Massachusetts already protects undefined "sexual orientation" as a civil right, and is considering similarly protecting undefined "gender identity or expression" in our laws.

The state truly does have an interest in prohibiting certain sexual activities. The connection between the worlds of unrestrained GLBT behaviors and BDSM is well established. Otherwise, why would we see PFLAG (Parents, Families & Friends of Lesbians & Gays) co-sponsoring a transgender conference (including kinky sex workshops) with the New England Leather Alliance (BDSM advocates); or GLAD (the legal advocacy organization that brought us “gay marriage”) holding a forum advocating total sexual liberation called “Sex on the Margins”?

In the New York Post:

THEY BEAT IT OUT OF ME: SECRET S&M LIFE OVER, PROF VOWS (2-13-08)
His life was saved last Friday by a dominatrix at the Nutcracker Suite on East 33rd Street, who was assigned to check on him after her colleague left him with a dog collar around his neck and a leather mask over his face, suspended a few inches off the floor.
She realized his foot was turning blue because one of his high heels had slipped off....

GLUTTON FOR PUNISHMENT: WHY I S&M (2-17-08)
AFTER a long day at the office, a high-powered Upper West Side tech consultant likes nothing better than to light some candles, turn down the lights - and get whipped.
"It's all about giving up everything, a total power exchange where you don't have to worry about anything," said the 36-year-old married dad of two.
"It's a release of any obligations I've got."
Sometimes the twisted sex play can get out of hand - as a near-fatal accident at the Nutcracker Suite on East 33rd Street proved last week. A 67-year-old Canadian college professor, who had hidden his predilection for S&M from his wife and two adult children for decades, was almost strangled with a dog collar around his neck and a leather mask over his face.
Richard Benjamin, who spent three days in a coma following the incident, has since vowed to break his lifelong addiction....

Polyamory On the Way

We've reported before on polygamy/polyamory activists in Massachusetts. See "Polygamy & BDSM Advocate Behind Anti-Bullying Programs in Schools" (2-6-07):

Valerie White (see her web site) is an activist for "alternative sexual expression" -- including polygamy, polyamory, and BDSM (torture, sadomasochism, dangerous sexual perversions, etc.). She's a board member of the Unitarian pro-polyamory group called "Unitarian Universalists for Polyamory Awareness," and an ordained "Humanist" minister. (Now recall that the Unitarians have been a huge prime mover for "homosexual marriage." Their national headquarters building is immediately adjacent to the Mass. State House; how convenient!) White has set up a legal foundation to defend practitioners of "alternative sexual expression," including BDSM, the Sexual Freedom Legal Defense and Education Fund, Inc. (See "BDSM & the law" ...)

Recently, NARTH (Nat'l Assoc for Research and Therapy of Homosexuality) brought our attention to "Poly Pride Week" in New York last October. Polyamorous NYC ("Expanding the depth of human relationships with strength in numbers") hosted a big event in Central Park including a huge "cuddle party" for "all orientations and genders." (The Massachusetts activist noted above, Valerie White, is also associated with the NY group.)

Polyamorous NYC will host the 7th Annual Poly Pride Day on Great Hill in Central Park, Sat., Oct. 6th from Noon to 6 p.m. The organizers are planning multiple polyamorous events for the entire weekend. All poly-friendly, poly-curious and polyamorous people welcome! "Nuclear families are beginning to disappear. Non-traditional relationships, often involving three or more consenting adults are taking their place" says Polyamorous NYC member, Barbara Foster. "Poly Pride Day gives us an opportunity to publicly celebrate these non-traditional families."

Tranny-PFLAG Conference "Transcending Boundaries" -- Gone Underground?

We're disappointed to learn from DCU Center in Worcester that the transgender-PFLAG conference, "Transcending Boundaries," is not being held there again this year. This weekend is announced on their award-winning MySpace as the 2007 conference dates, but no location is given. Interesting how after our revelations of the past year, the Transcending Boundaries web site is no longer updated, and the conference (if it's being held at all) is being kept quiet. Too bad -- our brave undercover agents were all set to go out to Worcester! (They were just not sure yet which gender and outfit to choose.)

"Transcending Boundaries" -- It's just what the name says: There are no boundaries, no limits on behaviors. No such thing as male or female in their world, unless they say so. No such thing as "normal". Anything goes: little children identified as "transgender"; bisexuality; pansexuality; BDSM; polyamory, drag kings, drag queens, fetish, etc. The only thing missing (give them time) was bestiality. (But wait -- does "pansexuality" include bestiality???).

Last year's fascinating workshops included:
  • Dr. Norman Spack (Children's Hospital, Boston) on "Coming out as a child or adolescent as transgendered or transsexual and the parents’ process of acceptance." (Spack promotes puberty blocking treatments for pre-pubescent "transgender children" -- followed by opposite-sex hormones.)
  • Supporting Gender Variant Youth in Today’s Schools
  • Legal Issues and Being Kinky -- How to Talk About BDSM/Leather/Fetish (New England Leather Alliance)
  • Redefining Masculinity: How and Why Transmen [female-to-male transsexuals] are Changing the Definitions of Manhood
  • Queer Spirituality
  • FEMME-ininity: GenderQueer Femme Identity and Misogyny within the Queer Women’s Community
Who's welcome at the conference? "All bisexual, pansexual, trans/genderqueer, and intersex people and [their] allies!" What are their "interests" listed on their MySpace?
Activism, Activist, Bi, Bi Culture, Bi Curious, Bi Friendly, Bi Inclusive, Bi Men, Bi Network, Bi Women, Bisexual, Bisexual Community, Bisexual Culture, Bisexual Erasure, Bisexual Groups, Bisexual Meetings, Bisexual Men, Bisexual Network, Bisexual Pride, Bisexual Support Groups, Bisexual Women, Bisexuality, BDSM, Celebrate Bisexuality Day, Children, Cisgender, Coming Out, Community Building, Cross-dressing, DL, Down Low, Drag, Drag King, Drag Queens, Families, Fathers, Fetish, Fluid, FTM, Gay, Gay Straight Alliance, Genderfuck, Genderqueer, GLBT, GLBTIQ, Grandparents, GSA, Hetroflexable, Intersex, Lesbian, Leather, LGBT, Marrige, MTF, Mothers, on the DL, on the Down Low, Pansexual, Parenting, PFLAG, Poly, Polyamorous, Polyamory, Poly Pride Day, Post Queer, Same Gender Loving, SGL, Straight But Not Narrow, Transgender, Transsexual, Queer, Questioning

Boston Parents' Paper Normalizing GLBT "Families" -- Part III

Is this OK with Boston Parents' Paper?

Back to the Boston Parents' Paper's promotion of "gay parenting" (see our Parts I and II). The sidebars on parental rights (p. 25) and parenting resources (p. 28) bring up some serious concerns.

1. Parents' rights in the schools: The sidebar (p.25) title, "In school, the subject of same-sex marriage is an issue of parental rights," is fair enough. But Evelyn Reilly of the Mass. Family Institute perhaps misspoke when she said the subject of homosexual marriage "shouldn't be shoved down the throats of parents. This is forced indoctrination." It's not the well-grounded parents who are being indoctrinated; it's the young school children.

Reilly mentions that children ideally need both a mother and a father. True. But she fails to mention that homosexual "parenting" puts children in direct touch with unhealthy practices as a valid role model for their own adult lives. Reilly said, "We have no adversity [sic; did she mean aversion?] toward homosexuals. We're just trying to protect marriage." Why protect marriage unless there's something wrong with homosexuality, and especially in this context, homosexual "parenting"?

Well, we do have an aversion toward those homosexuals who -- as "parents" to young children -- encourage them in a GLBT identity. Besides the questionable "love life" models they show their children, it's common for homosexual "parents" to include their children in unseemly adult events such as "Pride" parades. (See the popular homosexual "parenting" book, Gloria Goes to Gay Pride.)

We documented that Meg Soens, a leader of the GLBT extremists (attacking David Parker) in Lexington, was at Boston Pride with two of her young children in 2006. What did her boy learn there? He certainly saw the ManHunt.net float, which encourages anonymous sexual encounters. What did her young daughter learn there? She saw women with bare breasts riding motorcycles, and other women whose breasts had been surgically removed, dressed as "drag kings", and "tranny" parents. Is this the kind of good parenting the Parents' Paper is promoting?

See the paper by Real Women of Canada which points out these documented dangers inherent in "same-sex parented" households: higher incidence of domestic violence; higher incidence of mental health problems in parents; reduced life expectancy of parents; higher incidence of "same-sex orientation" in children; greater risk of sexual involvement with parents*; greater risk of social or psychological problems in the children; higher incidence of child molestation.**

See also Dawn Stefanowicz's web site. Dawn's childhood experiences with a homosexual father, who included her in his depraved and dangerous activities, are a warning to our too accepting society. (Her book is coming out in the fall.)

Parents' rights in the schools are not jeopardized only through "sex ed." "Family" topics of any sort should NOT even be discussed. No newly manufactured stories about Mommy & her boyfriend. No stories about two "daddies". No stories about divorce. No stories about Daddy undergoing sex-change surgery. No stories about Mommy's (or is it Daddy's?) collection of whips. No stories about "Daddy died." No stories about "Grandma's Alzheimer's."
Can't we just leave all this stuff out of the schools? Read classic literature instead. Keep it neutral, non-controversial. It's the old argument we've been putting forward for years: Return to academics, and leave the family therapy for families to deal with on their own. Schools -- and the government -- cannot solve these problems for our children. (It would be nice, however, if the schools didn't worsen things by assaulting our kids with sensitive, emotional materials -- and the government didn't create more problems by financial incentives for family dysfunction.)

2. Parenting Resources Sidebar (p. 28) How can any "parenting" guide that mentions Fenway Community Health and PFLAG (Parents and Friends of Lesbians & Gays) be taken seriously?

Fenway Community Health Center is the group that passed out the Little Black Book to teenagers at the GLSEN Boston Conference in 2005 at Brookline High School. Fenway runs ads in the Boston "gay" newspaper seeking practitioners of "barebacking" anal intercourse -- for "tops and bottoms" -- to take part in HIV drug tests. They send bizarre "entertainers" to the Fens anonymous sex cruising grounds to hand out anal lubricants and condoms. (Some of their advice: "Safer sex is not necessarily about wrapping yourself in latex until no part of you is exposed. Although some people may find this appealing, for many people it comes across as a complete turn-off. So what else can you do?"... read more. And check out their Dr. Cox.) This is a "parenting" resource?

PFLAG bills itself as a group that supports parents whose children "come out" as G L B or T. (Are you ready for your teenage daughter to tell you she wants her breasts removed? If not, PFLAG will help you!) PFLAG is pushing hard for homosexualizing and transgenderizing your children. (See their pamphlet, "Our Trans Children.")They do teacher and counselor training and "GLBT pride days" in our public schools promoting homosexuality and transgenderism. We've drawn attention to their more secretive Transcending Boundaries conference which also promotes transsexuality, poly sexuality and "families" (multiple partner relationships), BDSM (whips & chains), and now hormone-blocking injections to pre-pubescent "transgender children" (making their later transitioning surgery less complicated). PFLAG also has a "straight spouse group"! (We think this means a spouse whose opposite-sex spouse is actively bisexual? So their child is seeing who knows what in the home?) This is a "parenting" resource?

From Real Women of Canada report:
*According to a study published in Adolescence, 29% of the adult children of homosexual parents have been specifically subjected to sexual molestation as a child by a homosexual parent, compared to only 0.6 percent of adult children of heterosexual parents. These findings were confirmed in a study published in the American Sociological Review.
**Proportionately, homosexual men are more inclined to child molestation than heterosexual men.According to American studies, the evidence indicates that homosexual men molest boys and teenagers at rates completely disproportionate to the rates at which heterosexual men molest girls. A study shows that the homosexual child molester accounts for approximately 7 times more victims than the heterosexual molester. When it comes to child sex abuse, men are almost always the perpetrator. Less than 3% of the population is homosexual, yet one-third of the sex abuse cases are committed again boys.

Boston Doctor Behind Puberty-Blocking Drugs for "Transgender Children" Is Allied with Dangerous Groups

Can you judge people by the company they keep?

Our post on ABC's 20/20 on "transgender children" led us to check out the doctor they quoted as recommending early hormonal intervention for children. Dr. Norman Spack is head of the new Gender Management Service Clinic at Children's Hospital Boston, unique in the country. Dr. Spack is also a trustee of Hebrew College in Newton. But look at the other company he keeps:

Dr. Spack presented a workshop at a radical conference promoting total sexual freedom and dangerous perversions, "Transcending Boundaries", last November in Worcester. It was organized by transgender radicals and PFLAG* and co-sponsored by the New England Leather Alliance* (NELA = the BDSM crowd)! How many physicians would be part of a conference where they also held workshops entitled:

*SM101 (Not a “How To” but a “What! Huh?”): How to Talk About BDSM/Leather/Fetish – For Allies, Families, and Professionals [i.e., Bondage & Discipline, Sadomasochism, whips, chains, ropes]
*Polyamory 101 [group sex, multiple partners]
*Legal Issues and Being Kinky: Oil and Water! New England Leather Alliance [how to avoid law enforcement & legal problems when engaging in torture, etc.]
*Bi Men: Coming Out Every Which Way
*Queercrips: We Do Exist, We Do Have Sex, and We Can Be Really Hot [still looking for definition of "queercrips"]

Here's a seminar Dr. Spack gave in Feb. 2007 (co-sponsored by the radical GLBT Stonewall Center at UMass Amherst). He seems to consider it ethical to offer treatment for "relief" from "socially imposed or psychological/physical distress", including "puberty delaying interventions."
Dr. Norman Spack, (Senior Endocrinologist, Children's Hospital & Harvard Med School, Boston, MA):
Ethical and Treatment Dilemmas in Intersex or Gender-Variant Children and Adolescents Children and adolescents struggling with gender identity issues present to their families and health care providers wanting relief from socially imposed or psychological/physical distress. Medical interventions must take into account the child’s physical, emotional and gender identity developmental needs. Families and their providers often struggle to determine the right course of treatment for children exhibiting gender variance as well as those who present with intersex conditions (disorders of sex development). Dr. Spack will share his perspective and answer questions on what it means to initiate medical treatment, such as puberty delaying interventions, for children and adolescents.

We first encountered Dr. Spack back in 2005, when he stood up for a "transitioning" elementary school student in Methuen. In more recent news, the highly respectable Children's Hospital web site (April 2007) posts this:

New clinic addresses intersex and gender issues ... Unique in the Western hemisphere, the clinic will also care for children and young adults who present as transgenderedthose who have no known anatomic or biochemical disorder, yet feel like a member of the opposite sex. Such feelings can emerge early, even in the preschool years, and can cause considerable psychological distress. For that reason, transgendered young people are often assumed to have a psychiatric disorder and are placed on psychotropic medications. By late adolescence, a high percentage have attempted suicide. "This will be the first major program in the country that is not only treating DSDs [disorders of sexual differentiation -- actual physical abnormalities at birth, or "intersex"], but also welcoming young people who appear to be transgendered and are considering medical protocols that might help them," says Dr. Spack.

On Dr. Spack, from an international conference on "endocrinological intervention in the gender identity development treatment of adolescents":

The USA: Three eminent American clinicians have made comments on the early suspension of puberty: ... 3 - Dr Norman Spack, at the Children's Hospital Boston has stated ... that "Children's Hospital Boston has just assembled an Interdisciplinary Gender Team which I am co-chairing along with Paed Urologist Dr. David Diamond (Endocrinology, Urology, Genetics, Ethics, Psychology, Neonatology, Gynaecology) that will soon see patients jointly and collaborate in evaluation and research on appropriate patients, from DSD (Disorders of Sex Development) to Transgenderism. It was not I but the entire group that insisted that Gender Identity Disorders be included in the clinical program. We are awaiting approval from our Institutional Review Board and the FDA to acquire already-offered free GnRH analogue for clinical use in carefully selected Tanner 2 transgendered teens."

So there's apparently a group of transgender advocates at Children's Hospital. And what role exactly does the FDA play in approving these drug treatments for "transgender teens"?

++++++++++++++++++++++

*NOTE on PFLAG and NELA:
Remember that PFLAG is the group with the largest representation on the new state "Commission on Gay and Lesbian Youth." PFLAG is really pushing hard on "transgender children". The BDSM advocates at PFLAG's conference, New England Leather Alliance (NELA), recently held a convention at the Sheraton Danvers which we reported on. NELA recently held this lecture:
"LAYERED PAIN: EXTREME TORTURE -- This presentation will explore and discuss various types of layered pain. This type of edge play requires using extreme safety precautions and seasoned bottoms. Often this type of play involves body fluids such as lymph and blood. It goes beyond the uni-sensation scene and explodes the possibilities...."
NELA has new classes on "Vaginal Fisting 101" and "Japanese Inspired Rope Bondage". On the "fisting" class:
Want to get a 'hand' in? Ever thought about 'human hand puppets'? Well, join us to learn about vaginal fisting. With a hands IN approach! There will be a demo and handOUTs too! SUSIEQ is a bisexual switch from NY, who has been in the scene for over 10 years. She is active in TES, Lesbian Sex Mafia (LSM), NYSMA, Leather Pride Night (LPN), Leather Leadership Conference (LLC), DefendersNY, and the swing scene.

Questions on Judge Wolf's Ruling on David Parker Case

Federal Judge Mark Wolf just ruled that Lexington father David Parker has to give his little children over to the state for indoctrination in sexual perversion. Here are some questions that immediately come to mind for Judge Wolf:

1. He points to Massachusetts laws banning discrimination on the basis of "sexual orientation." But how would he define that term, which is not defined anywhere in those laws? Judge Wolf likes to philosophize about the legitimate purpose of a school in preparing children to be good citizens. But nowhere does he help us good citizens understand what "sexual orientation" means. A careful jurist would help fill in the gaps in the law, right? Though once judges start defining "sexual orientation" all sorts of crazy, perverted behaviors could be normalized.

Judge Wolf: What about people who practice bondage & discipline/sadomasochism? Isn't that a "sexual orientation" that must be respected? How about cross-dressing? Can a school administrator, school board, or parent object to a teacher who openly participates in these "sexual orientations" and discusses them in school? Should third-graders be told about transsexual parents, awaiting organ removal surgery, as they recently were in a Newton public school? Don't our little developing citizens need to know about these things too? What if a school says: "Some parents are transsexual. We cannot discriminate against them. We need to read story books about them to the youngest children, so they'll grow up respecting diversity."

2. We thought the books the Lexington parents objected to were "just about different kinds of families." That's what the defendants said. Now the judge is telling us "sexual orientation" is involved. So this is about human sexuality? And the Parental Notification statute (Mass. law) applies after all?

3. When Judge Wolf points to the Massachusetts Health Curriculum Framework, he omits the crucial fact that it is one subject framework NOT required by Massachusetts law, including its recommendations for instruction on homosexuality and different types of families. The health framework is only recommended by the Dept. of Education. (That's why GLBT advocate Rep. Alice Wolf is again trying to pass her bill turning this framework into a requirement!)

4. Judge Wolf cites MGL ch. 69, sec. 1D, which does not mention "sexual orientation" -- that undefined phrase -- but says that public schools should "inculcate respect for the cultural, ethnic, and racial diversity of the commonwealth ... [and] avoid perpetuating gender, cultural, ethnic, or racial stereotypes." Nothing about "sexual orientation." Is he saying that alternative families are part of our cultural diversity? Or that gender stereotypes are perpetuated if children grow up thinking children have a mom and a dad?

5. Judge Wolf is not familiar enough with Massachusetts statutes to know that homosexual "marriage" is still not legal. The laws were never changed after the Goodridge ruling, and only the Legislature can "legalize" homosexual "marriage". That's why Rep. Byron Rushing has re-filed his bill to do so. The homosexual lobby knows this. And we suspect Judge Wolf and his friends at the ACLU do too.

Polygamy & BDSM Advocate Behind Anti-Bullying Programs in Schools

Valerie White of Sharon, MA
Polyamory/polygamy advocate, founder of "UU's for Polyamory Awareness"
Legal defender of sadomasochists
Advocate for "anti-bullying" programs in schools
Who's really behind the "anti-bullying" agenda in the schools? (MassResistance has spotlighted this issue before.) It's the radical homosexual movement and its allies among the "transgenders", polyamorists/would-be polygamists, and "alternative sexuality" crowd (including the sado-masochists). It's their latest propaganda ploy: using kids' normal cruelty to one another as an entree for their message about accepting everyone --no matter how they're different.

Don't believe it? Have a look at the person behind an innocuous sounding letter published in the Boston Globe (2-2-07): "Bullying infects the school setting," by one Valerie White of Sharon, Massachusetts. And you can be sure the editors at the Boston Globe know exactly who Valerie White is....

State House; how convenient!)

White has set up a legal foundation to defend practitioners of "alternative sexual expression," including BDSM, the Sexual Freedom Legal Defense and Education Fund, Inc. (See "BDSM & the law" web posting):

People who practice alternative sexual expression can sometimes find themselves in trouble. Like the 'Paddleboro' defendants in Massachusetts, they may be charged with crimes under archaic laws. They may face the loss of custody of their children. The Sexual Freedom Legal Defense and Education Fund, Inc. has been established to help people who find themselves in this kind of trouble.... The agency has applied for 501c3 status as a tax exempt organization. "We want to focus on alternative sexual expression among consenting adults, like polyamory, swinging, BDSM, fetishism and so forth" White says. "GLBT folks already have a great resource in the Lambda Legal Defense and Education Fund."

1. Valerie White: Polyamory 101
Limited to participants who are 18 and older. What is "polyamory" anyway? Don't people get jealous? Isn't polyamory just a fancy word for good old-fashioned cheating? How is it different from swinging? Is polyamory the same thing as polygamy? Is it safe to be "out" as polyamorous? What about the kids? How did this movement get started? How is it different from the "free love" of the sixties? How can people find out if this lovestyle is for them? Participants at all levels are welcome.

2. NELA (New England Leather Alliance) Representative Vivienne Kramer and Valerie White: Legal Issues and Being Kinky: Oil and Water!
Limited to participants who are 18 and older. How can you express kinky sexuality without encountering law enforcement? What should you do if you are questioned by police about what you do in the bedroom? This workshop will identify varieties of kinky sex and provide some clear guidelines to help you stay out of trouble. It will answer your questions about the current state of the law in the areas of a variety of alt.sex communities, sex toys, BDSM, sodomy, and assault as well as what’s on the horizon nationally.

In an article in Weekly Standard, Stanley Kurtz quoted White as a prominent advocate for polyamory and polygamy. (See "Here Come the Brides: Plural marriage is waiting in the wings," 12-26-05):
Valerie White,... founder of the [Unitarian Universalists for Polyamory Awareness (UUPA)] let Bi Magazine know in 2003 that UUPA planned to keep its quest for recognition on temporary hold: "It
put too much ammunition in the hands of the opponents of gay marriage.... Our brothers and sisters in the LGBT community are fighting a battle that they're close to winning, and we don't want to do anything that would cause that fight to take a step backwards." In short, the Unitarians are holding the polyamorists at arm's length only until gay marriage has been safely legalized across the nation. At that point, the Unitarian campaign for state-recognized polyamorous marriage will almost certainly begin.

White's web site brags: "Valerie has spoken on polyamory and on sexual freedom and the law at True Colors, Transcending Boundaries, PolyCampCon, Poly Pride New York, Unitarian Universalist General Assembly, Boston Area Sex and Spirituality Network, PolyLiving, Loving More East Coast, the Bedford Lyceum and Building Bridges. She has had articles on polyamory published in 'The Humanist' and 'Loving More' magazines."

Her "Sexual Freedom Legal Defense & Education Fund" links to these groups:
Alternatives to Marriage Project; BDSM and the Law; International Lifestyle Association (for swingers); Kink Aware Professionals; Loving More magazine; National Association of Swing Clubs; National Leather Association; National Coalition for Sexual Freedom; New England Leather Alliance; Pagan Sex Cult; Polyamory Awareness and Acceptance; The Institute for 21st Century Relationships; Unitarian Universalists for Polyamory Awareness; Woodhull Freedom Foundation.

Crazy People Happen, But BDSM Murderers Are Taught

This is news, rating a huge color photo on page one of the Globe's second section: A candlelight vigil by a bunch of young people for the one-year anniversary of a crazy man's rampage in a New Bedford bar? All this hypercoverage just because it was a homosexual bar? What was the point of the vigil? Are we going to quell the incidence of insane outbursts by lighting candles?

Why didn't the Globe cover the dangerous sadomasochistic practices -- including cozying up to death and sometimes achieving murder -- being taught at the Sheraton Hotel in Danvers last weekend? Learning about this sick bunch of people reminded us that also just about a year ago a "professional dominatrix" got off scot free in court, though she had a "client" die during a bondage session! (She chopped his body into little pieces and disposed of it in Maine.)

Why weren't there vigils outside the Quincy condo where this hate crime happened -- to protest the increasing practice and acceptance of torture? (And the adoption by the Boston Globe of their twisted terminology: "professional dominatrix" and "bondage session"?) And why did no one have a vigil outside the BDSM conference last weekend in Danvers, where such practices were taught? There just might be fewer deaths of this sort if the BDSM culture couldn't exist so openly, advertise its conferences, and take over "respectable" suburban hotels.

Here's the report from just one year ago (Jan. 31, 2006):
Professional dominatrix Barbara Asher was acquitted yesterday of involuntary manslaughter in the death of a New Hampshire man who prosecutors said suffered a fatal heart attack while strapped to a bondage rack in her Quincy condominium.

Prosecutors had argued that Asher, 56, did nothing to help Michael Lord, 53, of North Hampton as he died during the July 2000 session, out of fear that calling authorities would have jeopardized her dominatrix business. The prosecutors said she and a boyfriend chopped up Lord's 275-pound body and dumped the parts in a trash bin behind a Chinese restaurant in Augusta, Maine....

The prosecution's case -- and the narrative about the fatal bondage session presented in court -- rested on an alleged confession by Asher. Several police investigators testified that Asher had admitted to watching Lord die on the bondage rack without calling for medical help and then dismembering his body the next day...

Sadomasochism Celebrated at Sheraton Danvers Hotel

This weekend just witnessed a celebration of sadomasochism and assorted perversions at the New England Leather Alliance's "Fetish Fair Fleamarket". The host hotel was the Sheraton Ferncroft Resort in Danvers. How could the hotel management allow this event? And where are the town fathers who let this occur? Mansfield refused to let this event dirty their town. Salem News jauntily reported:

Having met resistance elsewhere, the New England Leather Alliance is bringing its "Fetish Fair Fleamarket" to the North Shore. The fair, featuring more than 100 exhibitors selling erotic merchandise, everything from "corsets and boots to dungeon furniture and restraints," is scheduled for three days - Jan. 26 through 28 - at the Sheraton Ferncroft. Organizers made a last-minute move here from Mansfield because of a dispute over a permit requirement.

A lucky geographical break - the Sheraton Ferncroft is in both Danvers and Middleton - could spare the New England Leather Alliance from similar headaches on the North Shore. Vendors will be setting up shop in the hotel's grand ballroom, which is in Middleton. And unlike Danvers, Middleton hasn't designated a section of town for adult businesses to operate. Building Commissioner Bob Camacho said yesterday he would take a closer look, but he didn't recall anything in Middleton's zoning regulations that would prevent the flea market. Danvers, on the other hand, has an adult zone bylaw restricting this type of activity to an area off Route 1 near the Peabody line....

In its 28th year, the event has previously been held at the Park Plaza and the Sheraton in Boston, as well as the Ramada in Andover - and would probably still be held there if the Andover hotel hadn't closed.... Flea market patrons have booked nearly all of the Sheraton Ferncroft's 350 rooms, and organizers have reserved all of the hotel's function rooms and meeting space. "We're going to accommodate them as we do all the groups that come into the hotel," said Edward Carey, director of sales and marketing for the Sheraton Ferncroft.

Consider the hotel taxes, the overflow of people staying at other area hotels and the business generated at local restaurants and shops, and [NELA] estimates the weekend-long event will pump at least $1 million into the local economy....

Numerous classes and demonstrations that address whips, role playing, bondage and other subjects will be offered on Saturday and Sunday.

The reporter doesn't tell you about the classes on fisting; canes and caning; flogging; BDSM and the law; etc. (See their listing.) And here's a description from NELA's webpage on an upcoming "lecture":

LAYERED PAIN: EXTREME TORTURE -- This presentation will explore and discuss various types of layered pain. This type of edge play requires using extreme safety precautions and seasoned bottoms. Often this type of play involves body fluids such as lymph and blood. It goes beyond the uni-sensation scene and explodes the possibilities....

We first encountered the New England Leather Alliance (NELA) as a participant at Boston Pride, then we ran into them as participants at the PFLAG/Transgender conference in Worcester recently. (Remember that PFLAG is the group with the largest representation on the new state "Commission on Gay and Lesbian Youth.") Part of the proceeds of last weekend's event were being donated to "National Coalition for Sexual Freedom" ("swingers" and perverts unite!).
